St Ignace - Michigan's Upper Peninsula

One of the best (read inexpensive and lake front) places to stay if u r on a sojurn to the mackinaw island. Its a small town with cute looking museums of native Indians- not very authentic and historical but a good sneak view into the Indian ways. Great t-shirts to buy with true Indian art forms (made in china --- of course)

There are also some nice eateries. Just the look of the town is so small. I was surprised that even that place had a little Subway (thankfully not a walmart). There are a bunch of inexpensive cottages, motels out there (yellowpages.com)- beach front or a stone throw from the beach. Amazing view of the waterfront.

Trivia : BEACHES ON LAKES DO NOT HAVE SAND,,, THEY HAVE STONES.

But in general the beauty of the place is in its serenity and the lake shore views. I just loved being lost in the peace and listening to calm breeze and watching historic rock formations. Para sailing is an attraction - $100 for a couple to 100 feet. Make sure that you keep a track of expected wind conditions before planning for para-sailing, that may be a spoilsport. Ideal camp if u wanna go up north to a must c cruise - picture dock cruises. Three hour cruise up north.

KEYWORDS: Untouched Water front - crystal clear waters - CRYSTAL.
